Accommodation Details

Anne's Cottage is a tastefully updated year-round home, with an interesting history, out of the 30-40's era. It is our personal property that we use ourselves and rent on a limited basis only to help with the costs! $40,000 in recent upgrades include: 1,000 sq ft multi-level deck that lets you tumble right on to the spacious, private beach; 7 new Anderson sliders that give an unhindered view of the lake and shoreline; newly tiled shower, newly tiled entry/utility room; new kitchen sink and fixtures; new landscaping and much more!

The main level has a nice sized (early morning sun) kitchen/eating area in beautiful knotty-pine that adjoins the great-room, which has dining on one end, a fire place, and a sun area overlooking the lake at the other end. There you will find 20 feet of sliders (with a stunning view of our cove and about 20% of the lake) opening onto that large multi-level deck which lands you right onto the beach!! Also on the main level is the master bedroom (queen bed) with large Anderson slide windows which give great lake, shoreline, and sunrise views! There is a futon that sleeps two, a utility room with washer/dryer, and a full bath with shower/tub. On the second floor are 2 bedrooms which sleep 3 or 4 each (2 double beds, child bed, & bunk beds).

For your pleasure, there is a fire place, TV, DVD, VCR, radio, and CD player. The fully-equipped kitchen has a coffee maker, stove, oven, new fridge, microwave, dishwasher, dishes, silverware, and pots and pans, etc. Linens and towels are provided.

Optional ($250 a week) use of the pontoon (18 foot, $10,000 Suntracker) can be great fun! Take a late-night romantic cruise, go fishing, or go swimming at the sandbar/island in the middle of the lake. Join the after-supper "parade" around the lake and see what all the other homes look like. It's great fun and takes about an hour. Two kayaks, a 14 foot fishing boat, a paddle boat, and life jackets are also available for guest use.

The large sandy beach has a dock, volleyball, horseshoes, barbecue grill, fire pit, and picnic table. A boat launch is also available.

No smoking in the home, please. Well behaved pets allowed (any damage will be charged for). The home is not handicapped accessible.

Surroundings

On 3 acres of gorgeous/secluded/wooded lakefront property, this resort-like setting is very private with virtually zero traffic on the groomed Brownwood Trail (just a few neighbors). You will be surrounded by thousands of acres of state-owned land with beautiful woods, lakes, trails, stunning outlooks, and more! There is over 200 feet of private lake front with a great beach area, and a sandy swim-play area with no "drop-off." Rennie lake has no public access and a low-density population (1 mile of state-owned shoreline has nothing!), so the lake-sports activity is very low-key (translation: you will not see 5 plus jet-skis/speed-boats flying around making you crazy)!

Early morning hiking or kayaking will reveal awesome up-close nature sightings of 12" bass, turtles, deer, loon antics, great blue heron rituals, Canadian geese (with up to 10 little ones all in a row!), the shy but interesting green heron, the rare pileated woodpecker (6' wing span!), the great bald eagle, and much more! Bring binoculars!

The clear, dark night sky makes the stars look so bright you will think you are in space! "Northern Lights" and wild loon-calls complete the up-north feel you will experience.

If you are looking for a quiet, remote, "bit of paradise", Anne's Cottage is it. Just sit back and relax... enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the woods, lake, and clean air! It is very restorative.

On the other hand, if you do get bored, there are endless scenic drives, hundreds of "two-tracks," huge-hill vistas of the bays, surrounding lakes, rivers, trails, etc. Ranch-Rudolph (4-minutes) has horses, canoeing, tennis, dining, tubing, fishing, and more! Interlochen, Traverse City, Old-Mission Penninsula, Lelanau, Suttons Bay... the list is endless! We have been coming to this area for over 40 years and we still find new things amongst all the old favorites!

This property is approximately 10 miles from Traverse city, which offers breathtaking views of the Grand Traverse Bay, great shopping, fine dining, water parks, many golf courses, miles of biking trails, theatre, and almost any recreation you might want.

Other local attractions are Interlochen Music Camp, which offers weekly concerts with some big name entertainers, Crystal Mountain Ski Resort, and the beautiful Sleeping Bear Dunes, which overlooks Lake Michigan and has many beautiful and unique hiking trails. Two miles away is Ranch Rudolph where you can rent horses for the nearby extensive horse trails, or take the little kids for pony rides.

Rennie Lake covers 250 acres and has a water depths to 30 feet. Fish include bass, blue gill, perch, etc. Motors are allowed.
